Q: What is a Helmet Camera?
A: Twenty20 manufactures both a Helmet Camera and a Motorcycle Camera. A Helmet Cam is designed to help you capture your actionsports adventure. Twenty20 uses single chip cameras, powered by a portable battery pack, and include a mount for any type of helmet you have. The goal is to show your friends a POV (point of view) video of your experience. To learn more about our products...

Q: What is the difference between the Helmet Camera and the Motorcycle Camera?
A: The Twenty20 Helmet Camera is best for off-road enthusiasts or for those of who want to share the cam between your buddies. The important features of our Helmet Cam include a portable 9-volt battery pack for power and a new aluminum helmet mount.

The Motorcycle Camera on the other hand is designed for any street bike. We recommend the bike cam for any track day guys, long trips or if you plan to keep you camera on a single bike. The system includes a voltage regulator to wire directly to your bike’s battery as well as an anti-vibration mount to capture production level quality video.

Q: Will my Helmet Cam picture be bumpy off-road?
A: The Twenty20 Helmet Camera relies on your neck as the stabilizer in capturing the best off-road film possible. The neck is one of the strongest muscles in your body and does a great job at absorbing impact and keeping your picture stable! We have found that the better the rider, the more stable the image, regardless of the terrain. Keep in mind that image stabilizers don't generally work on your camcorder while using a helmet camera.

Q: My street bike vibrates a lot when I ride it, how is the picture off the Motorcycle Camera?
A: The secret is in the mount. Our Motorcycle Camera uses a rubber to metal to rubber technology to remove the vibrations. Our mount will STICK or BOLT anywhere on your bike and because of its full-flexing ability you can get several filming angles from one location. To learn more about our motorcycle mount please visit the Twenty20 Motorcycle Mount page.

Q: Are the Twenty20 Cameras waterproof?
A: The Twenty20 Powersports cameras are submersible in 1 foot of water for up to one minute. Translation, the camera will do great in any type of weather, but can’t film underwater. If you do want to film underwater please give us a call first.

Q: How come Twenty20’s Helmet Camera doesn't use a rechargeable battery pack like most of their competitors?
A: Our products are meant to be taken for rigorous rides by the most extreme sports enthusiasts and we know these enthusiasts don’t want to lug around any unnecessary weight. So Twenty20 decided to design a product that runs off a single 9-volt battery. Just a 9 volt you say? Due to the latest CMOS technology in our cameras we can power your helmet camera for 20 hours off a single 9-volt battery.

The ultimate benefit for you in the end is a helmet cam that weights 10 ounces with a battery and saves you from having to purchase 8AA batteries before each ride. Furthermore, you can buy lithium 9-volt batteries now that last up to 160-200 hours! The camcorder runs on its own battery, so we suggest that you get a longer life battery to match the power of our helmet cam.

Q: What type of connector do you use to connect to your camcorder?
A: All Twenty20 camera systems include a ‘3.5mm Mini-Jack’ connector to plug into the A/V (Audio/Video) input on your recording device. The way to determine if you need a connector is if your A/V plug is different than the 3.5mm plug provided. Keep in mind that NO MATTER THE RECORDING DEVICE YOU MUST HAVE AN A/V (AUDIO/VIDEO) INPUT. Be sure to check the Twenty20 Compatibility Page to verify your camcorder is compatible.

Q: How do I get my camcorder to record the experiences from my Twenty20 camera?
A: Here is a quick guide to start recording with your Twenty20 HelmetCam.
Step 1: Make sure that your camcorder has video-in/out (A/V Input) capability. Please visit the Twenty20 Compatibility Page to view a master camcorder list.
Step 2: Confirm that your Twenty20 Helmet Camera has a compatible connection with your camcorder. All Twenty20 products come standard with a 3.5 mm mini jack connector. Your camcorder may also have RCA connectors (Yellow, White, Red) a 2.5 mm connector, or a proprietary Sony connector. Visit our "Helmet Camera Adapters" article to learn about what you need.
Step 3: Turn your Twenty20 cam on and make sure the record cable is plugged into your recording device. (See the inside of the Twenty20 packaging for further directions).
Step 4: Turn your camcorder onto PLAY/VCR MODE. Your camcorder is working like a VCR to store the footage so do not turn your camcorder onto camera mode.
Step 5: Use the manual provided with YOUR RECORDING DEVICE to ensure the A/V input is turned "On." Each recording device is different and contact Twenty20 Support with any difficulties.
Step 6: At this point you should see the Twenty20 Camera image on the screen of your recording device. If you don not see an image please make sure you have a FRESH 9-VOLT BATTERY from the store. It is advised to use brand name batteries like Duracel or Energizer to ensure you get a strong 9-volts of power. Contact Twenty20 Support if you still can not get an image on the recording device.
Step 7: To record the image refer to the manual of YOUR RECORDING DEVICE to learn how to "Edit/Dubbing from your TV/VCR." The magic record button is different for everyone so take a minute to read your manual. Contact Twenty20 Support with any further questions.
